Description of problem: After installing from boot.iso (on CD) and mageia-dvd-1-Beta2-i586.iso (on hard disk) /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg should contain an entry like; Core\ media /mnt/mageia-dvd-1-Beta2-i586/i586/media/core { key-ids: 80420f66 } It actually contains a reference to /tmp, which doesn't work. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): It is an old Mandriva bug that is still in Mageia 1 Beta 2. How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1. as above

I think my problem is similar. A very old bug in Mandriva I installed with a CD boot.iso I selected hard disk I specify the directory: sda8 I specify the path: pub/personal/cauldron/x86_64 I pursue the installation proceeds without problem. I restart normally. Where, then, I want to install a new package, the source path is wrong in /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg It is: /var/ftp/media/core_release instead of: /var/ftp/pub/personal/cauldron/x86_64/media/core_release. In fact, during installation, the installer recognizes the directory (/var/ftp) but it does not take into account the way states (pub/personal/cauldron/x86_64

Created attachment 539 [details] broken urpmi.cfg from hard disk installation. I think that the installer writes the path that is in use during installation to urpmi.cfg (which is in /tmp) when it should write the path that will be used by the live installation.

it's with all the drakx-installer media (boot.iso/dvd/dual)

Summary: install with boot.iso breaks urpmi.cfg => install with boot.iso from HD writes a bogus urpmi.cfg
Still present in Cauldron, and affects NFS i586 installs as well. The /mnt/nfs entry placed in /etc/fstab mounts /cauldron there (this is what was specified on the NFS "Directory" line in stage 1), but doesn't qualify any of the urpmi.cfg media definitions with "i586", e.g. /mnt/nfs/media/core/release instead of /mnt/nfs/i586/media/core/release.

I think that my problem is related to this. Installing from the HD via an extra entry in GRUB, as per the Wiki (https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Boot.iso_install) but with a separate entry in GRUB as per Mandriva wiki, if I select a directory for the .iso file that is wrong or too high up, the selection box "Please select the directory" should list the contents of the directory. From that, I can choose a subdirectory. The listing is empty. I can of course write the complete path down before I start.

No it's not related.
Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja
My comment was about using the network installer. A couple of days ago, I wrote down a mirror in advance, but I didn't need it; everything was already filled in. The problem about characters surrounding the message boxes has gone away as well.
Bug still exists in 64 bit version of Mageia 2.

I recently did an upgrade with boot.iso, and all fields were filled in for me in advance. So my contribution is now fixed. I can't speak to the original bug, because I have never installed that way from scratch.

I confirm the problem with Mageia 3. Install with disk boot-nonfree.iso The mirror is on a partition sda8 (mounted on /var/ftp) The path indicated in urpmi.cfg is /var/ftp/media/core/release instead of /var/ftp/pub/perso/3/x86_64/media/core/release
Whiteboard: (MGA2) => (MGA2) MGA3
This bug still exists since 2011-05-13 and is always present in MGA4 and probably in cauldron. The version and the architecture are systematically lacking in the path, in the file urpmi.cfg
Whiteboard: (MGA2) MGA3 => (MGA2) MGA3 MGa4
I confirm the problem with cauldron boot.iso from 16-10-2014. Cauldron from 25-10-2014. The mirror is on a partition sda8 (mounted on /var/ftp) The path indicated in urpmi.cfg is /var/ftp/media/core/release instead of /var/ftp/pub/perso/5/i586/media/core/release.
Whiteboard: (MGA2) MGA3 MGa4 => (MGA2) MGA3 MGa4 Mga5
Installers before present will not be fixed...
