Fresh install using pxe + kernel/initrd from boot.iso Selected Belgium keyboard which is azerty After install is finished, login manager is on qwerty Login and run keyboarddrake to select azerty After reboot the keyboard is back on qwerty expected result: keyboard in login manager and in desktop environment should be the one I selected during install or at least after keyboarddrake How reproducible: Just reinstall from scratch Steps to Reproduce: 1. install from scratch 2. select Belgium keyboard 3. reboot and marvell at the qwerty layout. On a sidenote: I have installed 2 times: 1. nuc intel core i3 environment with KDE desktop + KDM 2. amd e450 platform with on chip ati radeon Both had the same issue. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
new results: reboot system + ctrl-alt-fx to login with console: - username is azerty now but backspace and del not working - password is also azerty reboot system and login to kdm where all is set to azerty now as it's supposed to be. One additional change is that I use a logitech K120 azerty keyboard instead of a wireless logitech K400 keyboard / mousepad combo. Did not test on the lxdm/lxde setup yet. This are results from KDM / KDE setup.

@Thierry: This is not the first time I see reports from Belgian users having issue with the Belgium keyboard layout. Maybe their could be an issue with the language choice (supposing it was Flemish) that would force a nl_BE locale and mess up the keyboard choice?

Summary: keyboard azerty select at installation always returns to qwerty => keyboard azerty (as Belgian layout) selected at installation always returns to qwerty
Severity: minor => normal
Any chance fixing 3723 could have fixed this bug also? There's a way to check, Lieven, if developers don't answer the above question: just test Mageia 5RC. We can't fix Mageia 4's installer, anyway, so we need to know if it's still valid in Mageia 5.

Installer and Release bugs should always be set to cauldron, because once the isos for a stable version have been created, they cannot be changed. This bug was filed very long ago, for Mageia 4. Was this bug still valid for Mageia 5? (If so, please do _not_ set the version to "5". Only asking because if it was still valid for Mageia 5, that then we'll know we'll have to pay attention to this issue when testing the 6 alpha's and later). Please close this bug report if the problem was solved in Mageia 5hhhh
Version: 4 => Cauldron
Lieven, could you test Mageia 5 or Cauldron? Does it show the same issue? If yes, could you post the output of "locale" and "locale -a"?
Meanwhile, I installed M5 on my desktop at home from network install and there was no issue with the keyboard selection whatsoever.
Thanks, closing as OLD then.
