At the moment, Hardware Temperature. I've tried adding a second Default Panel (top) and adding widgets such as Analog Clock and Battery Monitor; but there is NO way to remove these, except by removing the entire panel...
IIRC in order to remove the "activities","logout" and "pager" widgets (none of which I use), I dragged them to the desktop and was able to delete them from there. (The right-click option to remove them became available when they were on the desktop.) Unlock widgets Open panel config Drag and drop unwanted widget to desktop
Thanks James. That worked; notwithstanding bug 12482... However, this is not as documented (see link in initial report above) and certainly not intuitive.
