Description Richard Neill 2014-01-26 23:50:55 CET
Molly-guard is a very useful little program which intercepts the shutdown command when invoked interactively over ssh. It's useful to prevent absent-mindedly shutting down the wrong server, by typing the shutdown command into the wrong terminal tab (as I have done at least once).

Example (via SSH):

rjn@penguin:~$ sudo shutdown -h now
W: molly-guard: SSH session detected!
Please type in hostname of the machine to shutdown: ^C
Good thing I asked; I won't shutdown penguin ...

This is a debian utility (free software), but has been ported to Red-Hat and exists on GitHub. https://github.com/tmhorne/molly-guard

Thanks.

Assigning this package request to all packagers collectively. On a voluntary basis, one of them might want to integrate it to the distribution and maintain it for bug and security fixes.

You might also want to join the packager team to maintain this piece of software: see https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager
