Colin, might this be related to polkit too?

If I add an additional Removable media/devices manager applet to the panel, then the new one starts to work - in my case opened the USB stick content in firefox...
@matteo, if you need help i could make some tests on razor-qt at home tonight

I don't think this one is polkit related. Could be udisks/udisks2 related tho'. A quick grep over the source suggests udisks2.
(so I guess a first check is that udisks2 is installed and running (systemctl status udisks2.service) and then if it's not quite that simple, then poke further - I'd presume it's not a bug in udisks itself, but perhaps razor's use of it?)
udisks2 is here running and started at boot
# systemctl status udisks2.service udisks2.service - Disk Manager Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/udisks2.service; static) Active: active (running) since T 2014-01-21 08:12:30 EET; 8h ago Docs: man:udisks(8) Main PID: 2071 (udisksd) CGroup: /system.slice/udisks2.service ââ2071 /usr/lib/udisks2/udisksd --no-debug

RazorQt will be replaced by LxQt starting from Mageia 5 as RazorQt is no longer developed (razorqt devs joined the lxqt project).
Thanks Matteo, forgot this bug report. However the same problem exists also in LXQt-panel... The bug in its current state is still valid for Mageia 4 - should we just change the version...?

LXQt is only packaged officially since Mageia 5, can you please re-test? Will probably not be fixed for mga4 as razor-qt is dead. Would also help if you can run "journalctl -af" as root before plugging in the usb drive, plug it and wait a few seconds until no new ouput appears, and then add the output here.

Could test it in Mageia 4. Still that message: "No devices are available" journalctl -af says: sept 04 22:27:05 localhost kernel: usb 5-1: new high-speed USB device number 4 using ehci-pci sept 04 22:27:05 localhost kernel: usb 5-1: New USB device found, idVendor=090c, idProduct=1000 sept 04 22:27:05 localhost kernel: usb 5-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 sept 04 22:27:05 localhost kernel: usb 5-1: Product: USB DISK sept 04 22:27:05 localhost kernel: usb 5-1: Manufacturer: SMI Corporation sept 04 22:27:05 localhost kernel: usb-storage 5-1:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected sept 04 22:27:05 localhost kernel: scsi5 : usb-storage 5-1:1.0 sept 04 22:27:05 localhost mtp-probe[4072]: checking bus 5, device 4: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb5/5-1" sept 04 22:27:05 localhost mtp-probe[4072]: bus: 5, device: 4 was not an MTP device sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: scsi 5:0:0:0: Direct-Access USB Flash Disk 1100 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 CCS sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: sd 5:0:0:0: [sdf] 506880 512-byte logical blocks: (259 MB/247 MiB) sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: sd 5:0:0:0: [sdf] Write Protect is off sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: sd 5:0:0:0: [sdf] Mode Sense: 43 00 00 00 sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: sd 5:0:0:0: [sdf] No Caching mode page found sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: sd 5:0:0:0: [sdf] Assuming drive cache: write through sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: sd 5:0:0:0: [sdf] No Caching mode page found sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: sd 5:0:0:0: [sdf] Assuming drive cache: write through sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: sdf: sdf1 sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: sd 5:0:0:0: [sdf] No Caching mode page found sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: sd 5:0:0:0: [sdf] Assuming drive cache: write through sept 04 22:27:06 localhost kernel: sd 5:0:0:0: [sdf] Attached SCSI removable disk Maybe next week I can test it with Mageia 5 LxQT...
Closing this bug report as razorqt-panel is no longer provided (dead project).
