Description dave pickles 2014-01-20 15:11:24 CET
Description of problem:

Regressions (compared with mga3) when using without group list, ie with 'view' and 'filter' dropdowns set to 'all'.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Tested multiple times on x64 VM.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. After first setting the dropdowns to 'all', the groups are still displayed in the left-hand window. It is necessary to open the 'view' menu, select 'all packages by group', then reselect 'all packages alphabetical' before the groups disappear and all packages are displayed in the right-hand window.

2. The package titles are shown in a very narrow column and are truncated to be unreadable. It is not possible to drag the column sizes to increase the width. However if one package is ticked (for installation or removal) the columns are then redrawn to a more reasonable width and can also be resized by dragging the column headings as expected.

The first issue may be related to this error which is shown 7 times when running rpmdrake from a terminal:

Use of uninitialized value $value in numeric eq (==) at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.18.1/Gtk3.pm line 545.

Maybe the radio buttons on the 'view' menu are not being initialised?

1) that's not a bug, this is per design.
If you don't want to see the groups, you don't have to change the dropdown menus, but you've to select "all packages alphabetical"

2) I fail to seethis

1) When running rpmdrake for the first time after installation, the 'all packages alphabetical' radio button on the View menu is already selected, however the program behaves as though the 'all packages by group' button was pressed. To see the alphabetical view it is necessary to select a different view then go back to 'all packages alphabetical'. This is why I wondered if there was an initialisation problem on first run.

2) OK maybe a quirk under Virtualbox on my system? Never mind..

(In reply to Thierry Vignaud from comment #2)
I'm in the middle of finishing off a fresh MGA4 install (done yesterday) and can confirm both observations as valid. Furthermore, if the left hand "Catgegories" pane is set wide enough for comfortable reading, the package selection checkbox in the adjacent pane is hidden and unless you see it happen you get no indication that it is supposed to be present. It cannot be revealed without shrinking the "Catgeories" pane.

Additional info: I am referring to rpmdrake 6.10-1.mga4

I can reproduce both bugs in Mageia 4 (Mageia 5 RC not tested)

As those are both different bugs, I'll open new bug reports for more clarity and close this one.
