VDrift is a nice racing simulation game. I hope that Mageia repos will collect it.:)

The package is in Mdv (that makes it more likely it'll get packaged for Mga)

vdrift now available in Cauldron: http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages?view=revision&revision=170852 Please test and close this bug. :-)
No news, I played Vdrift and it was working as expected. I close this bug.

vdrift-20111022-1.1.mga1 is available in "updates_testing" as vdrift was available in Mandriva. Please test it and I will ask for a update request to the QA.

Hi, Testing complete the srpm vdrift-20111022-1.1.mga1.src.rpm on Mageia release 1 (Official) for x86_64 ,for me it work fine . Nothing to report.

Advisory: This update adds vdrift game which was present in Mandriva 2010.2 but missing in Mageia 1. Packages: - vdrift-20111022-1.1.mga1 - bullet-2.79-1.1.mga1
Doesn't work on my i586 system. After I start the game, I can hear the engine sound, but it doesn't respond to any user input. I had to use alt+ctrl+f2, login, and use killall -9 vdrift, to kill it. I then tried "vdrift -nosound -debug" to see if I could get more info. It locked up my system completely. Alt+ctrl+backspace twice, didn't work, nor did alt+ctrl+sysrq,R,S,E,I,S,U,B. I had to use the reset button. If this game is pushed, it should have a very bold warning not to run it on older hardware.

Further testing shows that if I start it from the menu, or cd to an empty directory before starting the game, it's ok, and works fine on my i586 system. I would prefer it, if the recursive scanning of all files under the current directory could be fixed, but won't block this update, if that's too much work, provided a warning is added, about the problem.
Sorry, comment 10 was meant to go the the openttd bug report, not this one.
Thank you for the report. What is "old hardware" for you? No soucy on my part on two Intel GPU. It's not a packaging issue but perhaps a non-supported hardware by vdrift. I think we can push it but... if we can have other reports it will be great!
lshw shows the bios date as 03/18/2005. The cpu is a single core Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.40GHz.
Testing x86_64 there is a problem too. I select practise game and set off but as soon as a press down arrow which I assume would be the brake to brake it crashes. It doesn't lock completely like for Dave though. Error in terminal: ERROR: OpenGL error "invalid operation" during: void GLWrapper::drawGeometry(GLuint, GLuint):src/gl3v/glwrapper.cpp:152 vdrift: src/gl3v/glwrapper.cpp:654: bool GLWrapper::checkForOpenGLErrors(const char*, const char*, int) const: Assertion `!true' failed. INFO: SIGABRT detected, releasing the mouse Aborted
I managed to do 2:29.866 without using the brakes though :)
i586 it doesn't crash but my hardware isn't really up to running it.
I wonder if we should consider only pushing the x86-64 version? Opinions?
It works here on my old laptop, but it has an old intel graphics chip which isn't powerful enough to do make it do anything but stutter along. It took 10-15 seconds to time 3 seconds on the track. If it works, push it IMO, if it doesn't, don't. There does seem to be issues.
i think that the assert is hitted because of a hardware issue ( like the hw not powerful enough, or something else ). And we should be able to push this rpm as other tests are OK

Although it seems most (if not all) i586 systems are not powerful enough for this game, I agree it should be pushed. Could someone from the sysadmin team push the srpm vdrift-20111022-1.1.mga1.src.rpm from Core Updates Testing to Core Updates. Advisory: This update adds the game vdrift, which was present in Mandriva 2010.2 but missing in Mageia 1. Note that this game does not work on lower end hardware.
