Description of problem: No pattern yet; but it seems to occur on 2nd or later laptop lid close/open sequence. Open lid and no way to login. Workaround: Ctrl+Alt+F2, "kill `pidof kdm`" Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: unsure Steps to Reproduce: 1. close lid 2. open lid 3. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
There are many possible reasons for this and many things that can kick in when you open/close the lid, like acpi actions (defined in /etc/acpi) and systemd's new support for Lid switch actions (configured through /etc/systemd/logind.conf). I'd guess the latter is causing your issues. Try researching and experimenting with that.
