Description Florian Bauer 2014-01-11 20:50:57 CET
Description of problem:
After updating to new ksplash design in MGA4 RC 1 ksplash uses a wrong (to high) resolution. This results in a cut Mageia logo and non visible animation (bubbles).

This happens here on a asus netbook with screen resolution of 1024x600 and grub2.

The old (MGA3) splash used the correct (smaller) resolution.

kind regards
Florian

I noticed this same issue on a VM where KDM is at 1024x768 but then at login it changes to a higher resolution (krandr settings). It looks like the maintainer made a commit to this package today which might fix this.

My commit wont fix this, I am assuming its due to introducing higher res support.
Could you give the contents of /usr/share/apps/ksplash/*

Also, is this definetly a ksplash issue and not the image displayed before ksplash starts?

Also, could you both post screenshots of this happening, you can do so using systemsettings and "test theme" the the workspace set of tools.

Thanks

$ ls /usr/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/
Air/ Default/ Minimalistic/ None/ Simple/ SimpleSmall/

Definitely a ksplash issue. Two problems, one it is off when at 1024x768 resolution, and secondly when the resolution changes during login while the splash is still running, it doesn't expand with it like it used to (the right and bottom areas are just black until the plasma desktop runs and fills it in).

ksplash at 1024x768

If I run the test when it's at its full 1176x885 resolution, it looks fine. Setting it back to 1024x768 with xrandr and running the test gives the attached picture, which is what it looks like when I first log in.

Ba, my fault, my last commit didn't fix this, it caused it.
The scale distance puts the image off the screen, I'll fix in next version.

At 1024x768 I can confirm that it looks correct now. It still doesn't expand correctly when the resolution changes during the login process, but oh well.
