Description of problem: 
Booting the 3.12.6-4 show a blank screen during bootup until the DM greeter starts.

After booting, all the tty's are also blank (or black on black), but they are there and functioning. I logged into tty2  and killed a running gui app with no problem.

Tried with and without the 'splash quiet' kernel options, results were the same.

Tried with both the server and desktop kernels, same results.

How reproducible: Every time

I couldn't see anything wrong in the boot.log or dmesg, but here they are just the same.
