Details

Description Jean Michel Varvou 2014-01-03 15:22:57 CET
Description of problem:
- cool streams (internet radio station) have been activated in amarok in section "configure the scripts".
- task-codec-audio is installed.
- All media have been activated (main, non-free, tainted.

Amarok can't play an internet radio like somafm and ask me to install a plugin "Source protocol http".

If we install manually the rpm gstreamer0.10-neon, amarok can read the stream. Perhaps, it's will better to add the following rpm to the rpm task-codec-audio :

gstreamer0.10-neon
gstreamer1.0-neon
gstreamer1.0-faad
gstreamer0.10-faad
gstreamer1.0-caca
gstreamer0.10-caca

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to listen an internet radio shoucast with amarok or use cool streams
2.
3.

Malo what do you think about that ?

Should gstreamer0.10-neon and gstreamer1.0-neon be added directly on amarok package as a Suggests ?

or it is better to added them on task-codec package ? also with gstreamer0.10/1.0-caca and gstreamer0.10/1.0-faad.

Amarok uses phonon, so we shouldn't add requires or suggests specific to a backend - here phonon-gstreamer - directly in amarok, because the users can use another backend that the one installed by default.
phonon-gstreamer uses only gstreamer0.10, not gstreamer1.0.

But as we moved to phonon-vlc by default for mga5, this bug is not applicable anymore to the default cauldron install, which now uses phonon-vlc.

Hello

Yes, I confirm that with mageia 5, Amarok can read without problems shoutcast radio. With phonon-vlc, packages gstreamer0.10-neon, gstreamer1.0-neon, gstreamer1.0-faad, gstreamer0.10-faad, gstreamer1.0-caca, gstreamer0.10-caca are not required.

As this bug was reported against cauldron, and is not valid with a default installation anymore, why keep it open?

Although IMHO the packages can still be added to task-codec, that won't hurt.

I added Recommends gstreamer0.10-neon to phonon-gstreamer in phonon-gstreamer-4.7.2-5.mga5.
