Description Glen Ogilvie 2013-12-26 20:39:42 CET
Mageia does not seem to have collectd packaged for it.

Please can we have a collectd package added to Mageia. RPMs exist for Fedora, centos, etc, so we have a good starting point to create one for Mageia.

Collectd is a pretty useful monitoring tool and quite light weight.

The Fedora RPM has dependencies on libraries we might not have included in Mageia. I think however, that it would be OK to not compile all the possible plugins for collectd for a start, which means we can skip some of the libraries it depends on.

I have a src.rpm, which needs a bit of tidying up before it's ready to ge in cauldron. Biggest problem is ideally, we need libperl for the perl support, which does not seem to be present in Mageia currently. It can be built without it, but not ideal.

SRC: http://www.linuxbox.co.nz/collectd-5.4.0-1.src.rpm

This RPM was based on one made for centos.

No action. Any thoughts?

Thanks for asking :-)

Stormi suggested recently to assign any package requests to pkg-bugs@ml.mageia.org (without mass-assigning them), and I agreed.

I'll also change the severity and the summary of this report, because of
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_report_a_bug_properly#How_to_file_a_package_request

@ Glen,

Do you mind attaching the SPEC to this bug report... for anyone interested in packaging it, it'll be easier to look at than when first having to grab the SRPM from your website.

Do you mean the colectd buildsystem can't find it or you can't find it?
"urpmf libperl.so" should show you that it's contained in perl-base ...

FWIW it should also be possible to import directly from the fedora package, latest one can be grabbed e.g. at http://pkgs.org/fedora-22/fedora-x86_64/collectd-5.4.2-3.fc22.x86_64.rpm.html

I agree, the Fedora one is probably the best place to start from. The collectd spec file I have is included in the SRPM, SRC: http://www.linuxbox.co.nz/collectd-5.4.0-1.src.rpm

However, that was 2 years ago. So a bit out of date.
