This nVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 3D capabilities has no nVIDIA Optimus.
I don't think it is hardware related, i also try the live-dvd but the gnome vers on my laptop and it is the same problem, it does not start, it get stuck at checking new hardware. Also the install dvd vers after install, on first boot it does the same thing.

Marten, the prior isos OBVIOUSLY are ok, we used them, here we we're talking just about mageia 4 beta 2.
im talking about the beta2 i cant get a live session on kde 64 dvd. and the beta2 iso that qa did test before the public did had axess to it did work fine.
valid for pre-4RC, too If this isn't a dup of bug 11574, then I should have added my comments to this bug instead of to that one.

Booting from external USB harddisk as well. Still using grub and legacy BIOS. There were 2 options during install: selecting the nVIDIA proprietary driver or not. (I was very happy that this ISO contains (part of) non-free repo, thinking that my wireless could be installed as well, but that was NOT the case.) Without gave the same "Checking for new hardware" as mentioned before. With proprietary driver gave: nvidia-current (331.20-10.mga4.nonfree): Already installed on this kernel Checking for new hardware

Imho this could be a duplicate of bug #11953
(In reply to Dick Gevers from comment #11) > Imho this could be a duplicate of bug #11953 I'm not sure, not even getting Vesa to work gives me the feeling there is another issue, that is not related to the graphic card, while bug 11953 was originally about video driver issues. Both are release blockers, IMHO

(In reply to Marja van Waes from comment #12) > (In reply to Dick Gevers from comment #11) > > Imho this could be a duplicate of bug #11953 OOPS, I thought you were referring to another bug yes, I agree, but I'd like to keep this one for the same issue with the Live media
We are almost "Mageia 4 RC" time... Is there a possibility for me to test pre-RC version? Or should I wait until official release of RC?
(In reply to Bert Aerts from comment #14) > We are almost "Mageia 4 RC" time... > Is there a possibility for me to test pre-RC version? > Or should I wait until official release of RC? Yes, it is. Please become a member of the QA team: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/QA_Team and send a mail to their mailing list to inform the team you want to help with iso-testing (and stable updates, if you'd like to help with that, too). After that one of the team leaders will contact you and give you details about how get access to the pre-RC isos.
I think we can close this one now?
