I am using KDE. I reproduce this with different themes selected from the KDE panel for GTK theme settings.
Thi is per design. See http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/drakx/commit/?id=cb2bb1873b8120bd1b3b0dadd0aa9222f336b904 In order to fix a sizing issue with partition buttons when switching between disks, we moved the labels as tooltips

Hi, I understand but viewing all names at once (or at least the first characters) is very useful. If you're ok, I would like to reopened this as a request for enhancement. I think a lot of users will wonder why this information has disappeared. Would it be possible to add the text in a line above the button? A solution could be to consider displaying partitions vertically instead, keeping all the width for text: Device, Mount point, size, etc... (it could be in columns) When you have a resolution of 1600x900 or more and you display the window full screen, at least half the space at the bottom is unused, even in expert mode. But this is probably food for thought for Mageia5.

There's no more place below. Labels would need to be aligned to the toggle buttons and still be too bigs. Even with 1600x900, we can come up with partitionning schemes with big labels that'll break

How about adding some short non-translatable text, like "(...)" or "..." to the tab to make it more obvious that the tooltip would give the longer version ? Or, if space allows, the first few characters of the label suffixed with "..." ? This would be consistent with the usage of other products, e. g. Thunderbird.
