Description of problem:
Mageia-4-beta1-LiveDVD-KDE4-i586-DVD.iso image file do not fit on 8-cm 1.4 GB DVD+RW disk

Mageia-4-beta1-LiveDVD-KDE4-i586-DVD.iso

How reproducible:
checked with 2 empty disks from different manufacturers

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open image file with K3b 
2. use empty or formatted 1.4 GB DVD+RW
3. K3b cannot write disk
4. when overburning enabled the image can be written
5. without overburning a 12-cm 4.4 GB media is accepted

Having seen this bug for other iso/media you might want to take a look at https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8830#c3
to auto-detect over sized iso images.

It would be good to check the Mageia 5 Isos before they are released. But maybe now it can't happen anymore?

Current KDE LiveDVD are 1.7 GB, so I don't think that fitting them on 1.4 GB DVDs is supported. I didn't even know that such devices existed :p

They are still available for video-camcorders; very hard to get and expensive as all hell.  Used to be given away as a business card with pre-loaded collateral.
