When taking a screenshot in MATE for my previous bug report, I noticed that it kept being saved in Desktop even though I was selecting Pictures. This was using the app under Applications > Accessories > Take screenshot.

I'm not sure what the app is. I right-clicked on my desktop icon and looked under Properties and it listed the command as "mate-screenshot --interactive", but trying that in Konsole generated an error message saying there's no such thing. I can't see a package listed called "mate-screenshot", and having done a search in Software Manager the only thing that was ticked as installed was called something like "kipi-plugins-debianscreenshot" or some such name.

Could it be simply that the screenshot app included with the live KDE DVD doesn't work properly with Mate desktop?

Carolyn

Hi. mate-screenshot utility is a part of mate-utils package. Do you have installed mate-utils? I think you' re not or there is a problem in your setup:

$rpm -ql mate-utils
/etc/pam.d/mate-system-log
/etc/security/console.apps/mate-system-log
/usr/bin/mate-dictionary
/usr/bin/mate-disk-usage-analyzer
/usr/bin/mate-panel-screenshot
/usr/bin/mate-screenshot
/usr/bin/mate-search-tool
/usr/bin/mate-system-log
/usr/libexec/mate-dictionary-applet
/usr/sbin/mate-system-log
.
.
.

If mate-utils is installed and you can verify mate-screenshot is in /usr/bin then please post commandline output.

Oh. Also i found the solution. I'll commit a fix to the mate-utils package and ask for freeze push tonight.
