Description Doug Laidlaw 2011-05-05 03:11:36 CEST
Description of problem:
Running the nouveau driver with a 210 card, Xscreensaver was giving me about 1.5 fps. Installing the nvidia driver from the repos fixed it. It wasn't always that bad, but I have no further detail. It was mentioned on the mailing list to report these differences. My card is so new that under Mandriva, until a week ago, I had to use the Nvidia driver from backports, not the one from the release. I assumed that the nouveau driver will be closer to the released Nvidia driver, and I accepted its deficiencies. The present distro release has deficiencies, but a useful bug report should await the next version.

(Afterthought: this may impact on Bug 1143.)

This may be a false alarm. I have downloaded and installed the latest NVidia driver. I am having no problems except when logged in as my default user, with the Xfce desktop. As myself, I can use KDE O.K, and as anybody else, I can use Xfce as well. It sounds like a corrupted setting in a dotfile.

This bug is old, and changes in Cauldron were huge. Please re-open it if it is still there.
