Description Jani Välimaa 2013-10-07 17:08:28 CEST
Please test new lightdm [1] from core/updates_testing. It's a bugfix release and fixes handling of corrupt Xauthority files [2].

Test case:
1. Install lightdm
2. Start machine to lightdm greeter
3. Switch to tty and login as root
4. do 'echo foo > /home/someuser/.Xauthority'
5. try to login as someuser
6. login should fail and lightdm greeter should appear again
7. switch to tty and update lightdm and related libs (you can also remove /home/someuser/.Xauthority and login to graphical desktop to update pkgs)
8. just to be sure, redo step 4
9. restart X and login again as someuser

32-bit Mag3
-----------
Despite disabling *testing media, when I installed lightdm and tried the 'fail' test, it worked; and I found that the version installed was as per *testing i.e. cited in this bug:-
lightdm-gtk-greeter-1.3.1-6.mga3
liblightdm-gobject1_0-1.4.4-1.mga3
lightdm-1.4.4-1.mga3

BTAIM
Sitting on the lightdm login screen, TTY2 login as root and set & verify /home/<user>/.Xauthority to foo
then login as <user> from the graphic screen works OK. So the fix at least does not exhibit the bug; deemed OK.

Mag3 64

Installed Lightdm on gnome as decribed in comment 1

I didn't have any issues with login.

Updated to all to 1,4,4,1
Still no problems

Can someone from sysadmin please push from core/updates_testing to core/updates.
