I had the same problem booting from the i586 classical installer burned to a DVD. The md5sum is fine.

Workaround solution, download release 3 files from
     ftp://mageia.webconquest.com/distrib/3/x86_64/isolinux/alt0/

Step 4 now boots and I installed Mageia-4-alpha3-x86_64-DVD.iso

stage1 doesn't use udev.
Looks like something in newer kernel may have break stage1.

Might also be the latest kmod

Just an FYI. Downloaded and tried latest
all.rdz 14199 KB 10/07/2013 08:09:00 PM
vmlinuz 3686 KB 10/07/2013 08:09:00 PM

Booted them and still has a dead keyboard.
Comment 9 Thierry Vignaud 2013-10-10 13:31:28 CEST
OK this is hardware specific then since I cannot reproduce on a 32it VM.
Can you attach a screenshot of this one?
Like the attachment #4412 [details] but up to date.
=> We should see more messages.

Last time we had such an issue:
- we'd an issue with kmod vs modules.order
- we'd to manually load an new module (hid-generic)

Thomas, does this ring a bell?

Also, can all the reporters, beside providing an updated screenshot, can report what are their input devices (keyboard, mouse, ...): are they PS/2, USB, ... Aanything else?
Comment 11 Thierry Vignaud 2013-10-10 13:48:58 CEST
@Thomas: you didn't update kernel/list_modules.pm in drakx for kernel-3.11
we may miss some needed modules in the installer.

I don't have an older kernel-3.10 in order to compare.
Can you update it?

Yup, it worked fine on my 64 bit VB guest, running on the host which would freeze during install.

> Can you attach a screenshot of this one?

Only if you tell me exactly what to add to my boot stanza

title Downloaded_iso
kernel (hd0,7)/vmlinuz root=/dev/ram3 ramdisk_size=32000 vga=791
initrd (hd0,7)/all.rdz

Or what commands to enter from the boot.iso screen.
I downloaded the boot.iso you suggested in the other bug report.
Tried nodmraid and it said no module, tried alt0 and keyboard is still dead.

> input devices (keyboard, mouse, ...)

Broke HP and working Asus systems are both usb keyboard/mouse.
Working Lenovo is ps2. All three systems are gpt partitioned. All are running up to date Cauldron.

Please try http://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/Mageia/distrib/cauldron/x86_64/install/images/boot-nonfree.iso
It contains some new kernel-3.11 USB modules

That one does work.

Hope changes are migrated to vmlinuz and all.rdz.

My download_iso script extracts those from the downloaded iso so I can boot straight from hard drive.
Comment 15 Thierry Vignaud 2013-10-10 17:15:38 CEST
Closing then.
Why do you extract those from install/images/boot.iso?
Those can be found in isolinux/alt0/ ...

Easier for the script to pull them from whatever downloaded iso than to figure out where to go back and pull from a mirror. :)
