I use Dropbox (32bits) in KDE4 Mandriva 2010.2 and it works very well with Dolphin: 1. 32bits: http://www.getdropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86 2. 64bits: http://www.getdropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86_64 I tested it (32bits) and did not work in Mageia Beta2. Obs. dropbox package "nautilus-dropbox" should not be used with KDE4, because can occur conflicts and crash.
If the package in question isn't in the repos, then the report is INVALID (and the reporter can open a topic at https://forums.mageia.org ).
IIRC, there was something named kfilebox
(In reply to comment #5) > IIRC, there was something named kfilebox Kdropbox? http://kdropbox.deuteros.es/ http://opendesktop.org/content/show.php?content=123269
Yeah, it has changed the name some time ago, and is imported to Mageia now as kfilebox.
I still don't know what package the OP has.

Setting the RPM Package to kfilebox, if the OP, Glenn Litke, uses another package it can be changed later.

I can confirm with a Gnome setup and nautilus-dropbox on i586. I've struggled with this. No screen originally to download the client and no setup screens following 'dropbox start -i'. The best I managed was to rename the existing Dropbox folder and remove .dropbox and .dropbox-dist and use 'dropbox start -i' again. It started and showed this error.. This client is not linked to any account... Please visit https://www.dropbox.com/cli_link?host_id=withthelinktoDBwebsitehere When I followed the link it asked first to log in and then asked for the password to link the machine to the account. It is now synchronising, downloading the Dropbox folder again. There is no panel icon as yet tho.

Sorry, I should say this is now in Mageia 1, not cauldron.
You can use kfilebox for tray icon. Not a solution but at least a workaround.

Thanks for that. I'll try it tomorrow and report back. So far there have been quite a few problems and I've about had enough for one day so will leave it to fully sync and then give it a rest overnight.

The package the OP was referring to is nautilus-dropbox It works fine in Mandy 2010.2 under KDE, Gnome or LXDE. In Mageia I have tried it under KDE and LXDE and no icon shows up in the system tray but the dropbox deamon does work in background. I was not aware of kfilebox before. Thanks for the heads up. kfilebox is nice but it lacks the 'copy dropbox URL' feature that is so useful in Nautilus.

Thanks for the heads up. kfilebox is nice > but it lacks the 'copy dropbox URL' feature that is so useful in Nautilus. I use dropbox in Mandriva-KDE only with packages: 1. 32bits: http://www.getdropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86 2. 64bits: http://www.getdropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86_64 I don't recommend to use the package "nautilus-dropbox" with KDE, because there was a system crash with me (in Mandriva). I'm using Kfilebox in Mageia and is OK, as already reported in the forum Mageia: https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=219&p=1399&hilit=dropbox#p1399
Still no icon in Gnome, it does show some file options in right click menu when in the Dropbox folder though. kfilebox is an inelegant workaround really.

It seems that Kfilebox is configured only for KDE, I do not know if it is suitable for gnome See the official site: http://kdropbox.deuteros.es/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=59:kfilebox045&catid=1:latest-news http://sourceforge.net/projects/kdropbox/(In reply to comment #17) For gnome, the ideial is the package "nautilus-dropbox"
Yes. nautilus-dropbox is what is not working. Please see #11 :)
Does anyone have feedback on what it is like in current cauldron? Please (at least) both for KDE and Gnome. In Mageia 1, with kfilebox, it is impossible to view the recent changes in the menu.

Still the same in Cauldron with KDE On starting nautilus-dropbox a pop up appears offering to download the proprietary backend. The dropbox backend downloads and starts running in background, but there is no icon for dropbox in the system tray like there was in Mandriva 2010.
The only way to get dropbox working, syncing with the server, in gnome is to manually start it at login. # service dropbox start starts a dropbox running but it doesn't sync and no icon. ~/.dropbox-dist/dropbox at login manually starts the backend and syncs with the server but with no icon. There is a step to take first which it tells you if you run it in a terminal This is in Mageia 1.

This report has become a confusing mixture of comments about kfilebox and comments about nautilus-dropbox. On may 11th, Ahmad set the RPM package field to kfilebox Please only report about kfilebox here I cloned this bug for nautilus-dropbox: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3641
So now asking again, ONLY FOR KFILEBOX: are there still any issues left or are all kfilebox users here happy?
Summary: Dropbox installs but doesnt show tray icon or pull up registration setup => Kfilebox issues (was: Dropbox installs but doesnt show tray icon or pull up registration setup)
(In reply to comment #25) > So now asking again, ONLY FOR KFILEBOX: > > are there still any issues left or are all kfilebox users here happy? For me, kfilebox is OK in Mageia 1, KDE 4.6.5.
