Description William Kenney 2013-09-09 01:14:51 CEST
In VirtualBox & real hardware, KDE & Gnome

Package(s) under test:
rhythmbox

Install rhythmbox
[root@localhost wilcal]# urpmi rhythmbox
Package rhythmbox-3.0-1.mga4.i586 is already installed

Launch rhythmbox with desktop launcher in KDE
Some of the rhythmbox buttons are not being rendered correctly.
See attachment. I think I'm seeing this in other applications and
will add them to this bug as I identify them.

If I launch rhythmbox in Gnome, as tough a shape Gnome is in M4A2,
the buttons are rendered correctly. Installing task-gnome does not fix
the problem in KDE.

Test platforms:

Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz
GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 LGA 1155 MoBo
GIGABYTE GV-N440D3-1GI Nvidia GeForce GT 440 (Fermi) 1GB
RTL8111/8168B PCI Express 1Gbit Ethernet
DRAM 16GB (4 x 4GB)
VirtualBox 4.2.16-1.mga3.x86_64.rpm

and

Intel, P4 530J 3.0 GHz, 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2, LGA 775
GigaByte GA-81915G Pro F4 i915G LGA 775 MoBo
 Marvel Yukon 88E8001 Gigabit LAN
Intel High Def Audio, Azalia (C-Media 9880) (snd-hda-intel)
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (Intel 82915G)
Real hardware

I've run M4A2 Rhythmbox in the following environments
with the noted results:

KDE	fail
IceWM	fail
lxde	ok
xfce	fail
OpenBox	fail
Gnome	ok

All in Vbox

I have changed the KDE desktop themes to;

Air
Air for netbooks
Excalibur
Oxygen
polishedStones

and that does not seem to resolve the bug.

This is a gtk regression.
Basically, does not work with any icon theme that is not gnome, or that fallbacks to gnome.
(change icon theme to gnome, or high contrast, and things should work)

rhythmbox icon render

This screenshot was taken with icon theme set to Gnome.
Seems to not make any difference. Test done on 32-bit
M4A2 and real hardware.

@William
make sure you have the gnome-icon-theme-symbolic package installed.
also if you are using oxygen-gtk, you must make sure that the *kde* icon theme is changed to gnome.

... this 'should' work (otherwise I have no clue)

Comment 8 Hugo Pereira Da Costa 2013-09-16 17:08:03 CEST
now it seems that you might have more things broken than I, since even your "play" buttons is broken (whereas the icon should exist in both oxygen and gnome icon themes ...
