I have installed Mageia as a replacement for Debian Mint. Yes, I reformatted the '/' partition. I have also tested using some new profiles, the effect is the same. I have found a reference from Ubuntu:- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/1083811 I believe the problem is gnome-panel and I have gnome-panel 3.6.2 2.1.mga3 I have found newer ones but the system will not allow installation of those.
I have also reported at bugzilla.gnome.org number 707731
well gnome closed this bug, if upstream does it we cannot fix this, sorry
Status: NEW => RESOLVEDResolution: (none) => WONTFIX
The fact is that we, Mageia, are using a version of Gnome which is several versions out of date. So surely the solution is to give us a newer version of Gnome which includes the fix. Unfortunately I am unable to compile the fix from the available date at Gnome, this is for Mageia to fix. At present Mageia 3 uses 3.6.2 version of Gnome while, Gnome www.gnome.org is at 3.9.1 So come on, give us the update in our repositories. Meanwhile Gnome Classic or fallback cannot be used on some of our computers.
upgrading to a new version so easily is not possible (see for ex https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7413)
