4alpha2 classic dvd 32 with default kde installation

I noticed only 1032 packages being installed, normally around 1700 i think for kde.

On reboot it starts XDM and logs in to IceWM and not KDE & KDE as expected.

Confirmed here. Using the personnalized screen for packages choice allows to install KDE wihtout any problem. So the bug seems to occur in first screen, probably due to last commits about multiple choice for desktop.
