Considering pgsql8.4 will be EOLed in July 2014, just several months after Mageia 4 be released, we will lack the support from upstream to deal with security and bug fixes in the next one year.

As we might introduce pgsql 9.3 in Mageia 4, there will be too much pg version series in mageia. Dropping not supported series might be an acceptable suggestion.
