Description of problem: I downloaded Simutrans to my alpha 1 installation, but when I tried to launch it from the main menu I got the following error message: "Failed to change to directory '$HOME/.simutrans (No such file or directory)" Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install simutrans 2. Try to launch it from the main menu 3. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
Whiteboard: (none) => 4alpha1
and if you create this folder ?
Source RPM: (none) => simutrans
I tried to do that and got a message saying "file already exists", so I checked and it was there. Before doing that, I also tried opening Simutrans in KDE and Xfce and with both of those I didn't get the "no such file or directory" message but I did get a different error message relating to fonts. I'll attach a screenshot of that one. Thanks. Carolyn

Mageia 4 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-09-19. It is is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we weren't able to fix it before Mageia 4's end of life. If you are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. If it's valid in several versions, select the highest and add MGAxTOO in whiteboard for each other valid release. Example: it's valid in cauldron and Mageia 5, set to cauldron and add MGA5TOO. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. If you would like to help fixing bugs in the future, don't hesitate to join the packager team via our mentoring program [1] or join the teams that fit you most [2]. This package has not been touched by its maintainer for years, so I guess the issue is still valid. I'll check this when I get the occasion.

I couldn't reproduce the issue in comment 0, but I get: Error: Cannot open 'font/prop.fnt' dr_os_open(SDL): SDL realized screen size width=704, height=560 (requested w=704, h=560)Error: No fonts found! Error: No fonts found! So I'll hijack this bug report to handle this new issues; both issues indicate anyway that Simutrans is simply broken in Mageia, so it needs fixed.
Summary: Simutrans won't open in alpha 1 => Simutrans won't start (Error: Cannot open 'font/prop.fnt')Whiteboard: 4alpha1 => MGA5TOOVersion: 4 => Cauldron

Severity: critical => major
I've updated the package in cauldron, and sync with archlinux package, it should work. pleae test.

Thanks, I'll test this tonight. It might be worth an update for Mageia 5 too if it works in Cauldron, as the Mageia 5 package is broken as per comment 6.

This is a regular on the Simutrans Web site. It is not just a Mageia issue, but seems to happen with any installer. What I did was download the tarball, and copy the file prop.fnt (it is in the tarball, (which is a further puzzle,) to .simutrans/font/ .
