Description Olivier Delaune 2013-08-17 12:22:05 CEST
Hello, during the partiotionning step of the installation (http://doc.mageia.org/installer/3/fr/content/images/dx2-doPartitionDisks.png), you have different choice. If you select the first choice "Use the existing partitions" ("Utiliser les partitions existantes" in French), you then arrive on this page (http://doc.mageia.org/installer/3/fr/content/images/dx2-chooseMountPoints.png) where one ask you the mounting point for sdax.

The "problem" is that it is not obvious what is sda1, sda5 or sda11. For example, if I have already several partitions and that the / one is in the "middle" of the disk, then we have to count manually to know what is the number of sda.

Example, I have several partitions with that kind of organisation:
/game | /video | / | swap | /home | /music
At the partitionning step, I will see only /game, /video and /music partitions but I will not know what are their number (sda1, sda2, sda5)

I think it will help a lot if the sda number would be displayed in the empty red rectangles.

Sorry if my proposal is not enough clear.

Mageia 3 is frozen.

CC: (none) => mageia

But it would be nice for Mageia 4.

While in the code, it would be nice to also have the partition label in
http://doc.mageia.org/installer/3/fr/content/images/dx2-chooseMountPoints.png
and in http://doc.mageia.org/installer/3/en/content/formatPartitions.html
I also have a few partitions:
/sbin/blkid -s LABEL -o value
mga3
mga4
mga5
cauldron
local
accounts
misc
spare
vmguest
swap
bk_up
hotbu
cauldron_bkup
video

This screen you told about is about manually mounting _one_ explicitly chosen partition.
In that case you just have all the information before clicking "Mount Point"!

Or do you really want speak about this screen instead:

No, the French installer help manual shows a wrong screenshot, he was talking about
http://doc.mageia.org/installer/5/en/content/ask_mntpoint_s.html

CC'ing docteam because the French screenshot for that help page looks wrong... it looks like the screen that can only be reached after clicking the "mountpoint" button in
http://doc.mageia.org/installer/5/en/content/diskdrake.html

@ Olivier

If you click on help in this page
http://doc.mageia.org/installer/5/en/content/images/dx2-chooseMountpoints.png

You'll see that you're advised to:
"Choose Previous if you are not sure what to choose, and then tick Custom disk partitioning."
Like Thierry said you have all the needed information in that screen. You can even choose to view the content of a partition.

To summarize: the needed information can be easily accessed, but adding it to the "choose mount point" screen would be a plus so this remains a valid enhancement request.
