Duply deals as a wrapper (written in Bash) for the mighty duplicity magic. It simplifies running duplicity with cron or on command line by: - keeping recurring settings in profiles per backup job - enabling batch operations e.g. backup_verify_purge - executing pre/post scripts - precondition checking for flawless duplicity operation Since version 1.5.0 all duplicity backends are supported. Hence the name changed from ftplicity to duply. Duplicity (and DejaDup - a GUI for it) is already in Mageia oficial repository, so all the dependencies are already met. Duply is licensed under GPLv2. The SRPM link points to the Spec file in Fedora, not a full SRPM package. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
Source RPM: https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/duply/sources/ => duply-1.5.11-1.fc19
I installed duply-1.5.11-1.fc19 on Mageia3 with the Duplicty in current Core repo and it works just fine. IMHO it can be just imported from Fedora 19 into Mageia's repos.
Just updated it to duply-1.7.3-1.fc21.noarch.rpm and it works just as well.

Hi, (Asking in several package requests at the same time:) BugSquad has too few active members to take proper care of package requests, so we need to ask you to check some things yourself. Please check in http://madb.mageia.org/ whether this package was already imported in cauldron, or whether there's another package with the same functionality that you can use. If so, then please close this bug report, or, if the package isn't available in Mageia 5, change this report into a backport request. If it is not available in cauldron, and there is no alternative that you can use, then please confirm that you still need this software. Thanks, Marja

Dear Marja, Iâm sorry for the late reply â Iâve been quite busy lately. Duply is still not in Cauldron and I would still like to see it. Currently up-to-date version of Duply is 1.11.3 (and it seems that with Duplicity 0.7, which is in Cauldron, an update would be very desirable). As for already packaged alternatives â I could only use a) pure Duplicity, which is much harder to use or b) Déjà -Dup, which is a GUI instead of a simple CLI. Therefore, Iâm reopening this bug. cheers, Matija

There is no guarantee anyone of them will find time to package & maintain duply)

Dear Marja, Thank you for the reply. I realise that packaging it myself is an option and that most if not all Mageia packagers are volunteers. My RPM packaging skills are pretty low (admittedly above average for a lawyer), so while it is on my ToDo to package it once I find the time to learn it, I wouldnât bet my money on me beating someone else to it ;) BTW, it seems that the Fedora package works fine on Mageia, if that helps in any way.
Sorry, bugs@ml and pkg-bugs@ml members, for the avalanche. 72 bugs with the "New RPM package request" component, had a severity of "normal" or more, which can lead to losing precious time when searching Bugzilla for bugs that urgently need to get fixed Now mass-changing that to "enhancement", as it should be for package requests. https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_report_a_bug_properly#How_to_file_a_package_request @ the reporter of this package request Please check in http://madb.mageia.org/ whether this software did already get packaged, and close this bug report if it did. Please do also close it if you find a package with the same purpose, that meets your needs.
