Description Funda Wang 2013-08-07 10:56:34 CEST
When building packages, we might want to drop rpath from certain binary executable. But recent upgrade of chrpath failed with:

+ chrpath -d /home/pterjan/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/imagemagick-6.8.5.10-1.mga4.x86_64/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.18.0/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/auto/Image/Magick/Magick.so
open: Permission denied
elf_open: Invalid argument

It's because that file has no write permissions for reqular users (or for anyone actually).

[wally@samsung-chroot Magick]$ pwd
/home/wally/mageia/cauldron/imagemagick/BUILDROOT/imagemagick-6.8.6.8-1.mag4.i386/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.18.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/Image/Magick

[wally@samsung-chroot Magick]$ ll Magick.so
-r-xr-xr-x 1 wally users 767K elo 7 13:14 Magick.so*

Comment 2 Jani Välimaa 2013-08-07 16:15:38 CEST
So this is not really related to new chrpath. Thus I'm closing this as INVALID.
