Description of problem: Overall, upgrade from Mandriva 2010.2 was straightforward. Issues: On trying to update before rebooting, bad MD5SUMS reported on a couple of repositories: no doubt temporary. Mandriva had NVidia driver from backports. To get a screen, I had to edit xorg.conf to call the nouveau driver. The "Before rebooting" files didn't exist, and /root/log still not found. "dkms status" gave dkms.conf: Error! No 'DEST_MODULE_LOCATION' directive specified. dkms.conf: Error! No 'PACKAGE_NAME' directive specified. dkms.conf: Error! No 'PACKAGE_VERSION' directive specified. Command $ 'reflect' unknown. No sound, but that was there before. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
One of the MDSUM sources was Core. Now downloading 487 packages. I see that an nvidia driver is available. I should have updated first. Mandriva packages were too numerous to list.
what is the issue ?

Just a report on how an upgrade from Mandriva went. Now history. I have found that upgrades from one version of Mandriva to the next aren't as clean as a fresh install. Mageia had enough differences to require installation from scratch as well. I am now running Mageia 1 installed from the DVD, with the odd Mandriva RPM where Mageia doesn't have one yet.
