Description of problem:
The eclipse-platform package has a lot of dependencies, which I find unnecessary.
Example: jetty, tomcat-servlet-api, jsch, jython, lucene, mysql-connector, glassfish-jsp-api.

if we don't have them sylinks in /usr/lib*/eclipse/plugins/ will be broken.

What version of eclipse is packaged in eclipse-plaform? 
The smallest one is eclipse SDK, now called eclipse standard. See http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/compare.php?release=kepler . As you can see it only contains GIT, JDT and PDE.
