(In reply to Marcello Anni from comment #0) > In mageia 2 i had to unplug and plug again the usb cable to have it working Same for me with a Lexmark C544n. Been the same going back to the last versions of Mandriva. I can't remember which version it started with, maybe 2010.0. I haven't upgraded to Mageia 3 yet. Probably not hplip's fault, but I'll CC its maintainer. Maybe he'll know who else we should CC.

Sorry, i've got no clue. No hp printer to test, can't really help with the plugin stuff or anything related to hplip. Only thing that i can suggest is to check contents of /var/lib/hp/ and /var/lib/hp/hplip.state and maybe run plugin installation in debug mode manually to see if there are some problems, via hp-plugin -g as shown e.g. in https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5395#c4 Another option would be to simply raise a bugreport/ask a question upstream: http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/support.html In any case, it would be really valuable if you could whip up some step-by-step test instructions how to check certain functions of hplip (e.g. plugin functionality) when this has been successfully troubleshooted ...
It's also possible the issue isn't caused by hplip at all.
In any case, i'd need help with it, i've got no printer at all, even less one that requires a plugin ;/
I think this is duplicate of bug 10072 ...

(In reply to Oleg Bosis from comment #5) > I think this is duplicate of bug 10072 ... Yes it sure sounds like it. Let's mark it as such. Obviously the Mageia 2 (and prior) issue that Marcello mentioned is a different issue. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 10072 ***
