Description bozonius 2013-06-16 09:27:11 CEST
Description of problem:
When LXDE returns from hibernation, the mouse wheel no longer works. This occurs under Virtualbox, but not on host system (thanks to Dave Hodgins for checking on real hardware). Host is Scientific Linux, but I believe Dave was able to reproduce this in his Mga3 guest running under a Mga3 host as well.

Just for comparison, PCLinuxOS running LXDE does not experience this problem; when hibernation returns, the mouse wheel still works. I have not tested LXDE under my other VMs because many do not even have it installed.

This has been filed against VirtualBox as bug 11870 in their tracker. At this point, we are not sure if this is specific to Mga's LXDE installation configuration or some incompatibility with VBox.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
MGA3
LXDE 3.5
all updates applied
VirtualBox 4.2.12 host and guest

How reproducible:
Very.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install and run LXDE environment under Mga3 running under VirtualBox 4.2.12
2. Hibernate the system using the LXDE logout menu option
3. Restart VM
4. Try to use mouse to scroll a window (whose contents are longer than the height of the window of course)

Workaround:
None, other than to reboot the guest.

Reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:

I also note that any VirtualBox file shares Mageia had mounted before hibernation no longer work either (i.e., they are no longer mounted or accessible). vboxsf and vboxguest are still loaded, however, which means that the guest additions are still loaded. I have not been able to remount the lost drive(s) even manually as yet (but that may just be a matter of discovering the proper options;this seems to vary a bit by VB guest OS).

This is also reproducible with the mouse wheel issue; they both appear to result from dehibernation.

Mageia 3 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status 4 months ago.
http://blog.mageia.org/en/2014/11/26/lets-say-goodbye-to-mageia-3/

Mageia 3 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
