Description Christian Müller 2013-06-14 20:23:45 CEST
Description of problem:

HTML5 video seems to be broken in firefox. In Mageia 2 the above link worked, and after upgrading to Mageia 3 on both my desktop and laptop video playback is broken (youtube html for some reason works).

On my laptop sound is ok, but video is only black&white, lspci:
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RS690M [Radeon Xpress 1200/1250/1270]
module radeon

On my desktop sound is ok, too, but video is only some flicker, lspci:
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
module i915

With opera video is ok.

Reproducible:

Have you tried the firefox package from the tainted media?

There is no 'tainted' Firefox.
Comment 3 David Walser 2013-08-12 16:44:08 CEST
Ahh indeed, sorry. Firefox uses gstreamer stuff for HTML5, so you might need the relevant tainted versions of those packages.

Where is the HTML5 video there? All I was able to dig up was flash player. Are you sure you have flash player plugin installed and you are not using gnash or something like that? Or how can I enable HTML5 mode there?

You are right, it's flash video, my fault. So it look like some issue between firefox and flash plugin. Opera and Konqueror which use the same plugin play this flash content without any problem.

I tried it on Mageia 2 and Mageia 3 and the thing shows up, but when I click play a circle in the middle just spins round and round and it never plays. Maybe a broken website. Anyway, likely not a packaging issue. Marking as INVALID.

The website isn't broken, and I could add much more examples. I found out some more in the meantime, and so I'll do an new bugreport on firefox and flash.

OK, but unless you find it works on other Linux distros, there may not be anything we can do about it. It might be a problem with Flash itself.
Comment 9 Christian Müller 2013-08-18 16:44:18 CEST
applied it to bug 9984
Comment 10 David Walser 2013-08-18 16:54:37 CEST
Yes I saw, but that's a different issue. The one you linked in this bug doesn't work on Mageia 2 either. The Bug 9984 issue does not affect Mageia 2.
