Description Juan Magallon 2011-04-28 23:37:18 CEST
When installing Beta2, there are some steps where installer needs
to install additional packages (configure net with dhcp - it installs
dhcp clients - or binary graphics drivers - nvidia-).
In those steps, package count is not reset to zero, it starts in previous
value, so for example, if you select binary drivers for nVidia cards,
it has to install about a dozen packages (gcc, kernel devel, dkms...),
but the package count to install is about 489 packages, not 12 or 15...
This also makes progress bar go nuts, install of the packages in that
step finishes with a tiny fraction of the progress bar filled, and is
very misleading.

Pinging. because nothing happened to this report since more than 3 months ago, and it still has the status NEW or REOPENED.

@ Thierry

I put OK on the whiteboard, because you assigned it to yourself, so it won't show up in april when I look for stale new and reopened bugs.

Whiteboard: (none) => OK

Created attachment 2140 [details]
compressed ddebug.log from rc i586 dvd upgrade from mga1 to mga2.

This bug is still present in todays i586 rc dvd. From ddebug.log ...

In the attachment, search for "found 15", where there is a list
of packages to install, that keeps showing up during the summary.

I think they've already been installed.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

I'll point out that I've seen this, but only on HTTP installs, never HD or NFS. I first noticed it when I started doing 64-bit installs, for which HTTP is the only option that works.

This is old and (I am guessing !!) fixed.

If my guess is wrong please reopen, verifying it is current for 5beta1 and mark it as such in the whiteboard (and target milestone as 5). Thanks!
