Description of problem: pcmanfm --desktop option provides support for separate desktop backgrounds for different desktops. But it also creates the desktop icons, which should be a separate option. A user may want different desktop backgrounds but not the icons. The reverse is possible (with icons, but having same background on all desktops) by simply dropping the --desktop option. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): pcmanfm M3 release version (pcmanfm-1.1.0-4.mga3) How reproducible: Very. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try disabling --desktop; you get rid of icons, but no way to have different backgrounds on different desktops 2. Try removing icons; they come back next login Workaround: I discovered, after much struggle, that setting the perms on Desktop directory in home to 555 (i.e., read-only) after removing the contents (*.desktop files) solves this. But I did not see this documented anywhere and it may not be an ideal or even "safe" solution (i.e., I do not know what this may do to other aspects of pcmanfm's behavior). This is filed against pcmanfm on sourceforge as 3614303. Filed as a bug there, but not sure if this is really a defect or enhancement. I'm filing it as an enhancement here since this is an external package. Note that pcmanfm is part of mga's LXDE environment. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
