Description of problem: This bug applies to all of the recent kernels, both desktop and server and to both the 32 and 64 bit architecture. Ondemand power scaling provides poor performance and poor power savings. I and several other users have noticed this: https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?p=34497#p34497 https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5118 It has also been discussed on Phoronix. The profile of this governor either needs to be fixed or the distro default needs to be changed. I found the conservative profile to be a huge improvement over the ondemand profile. But if ondemand has intrinsic problems it should not be the default in any case. http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTM3NDQ Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. It may also be that Phoronix installed 32bit version which ended using kernel-server instead of kernel-desktop due to the large amount of RAM of their system.
