I have installed the earlier versions of all of the packages I use as a workaround...but once newer versions of packages come out, it will be harder to figure out which packages are not compatible with v2.x.x The R community is dealing with this problem (no backward compatibility) as well, and hopefully the archives will be easier to access and packages that are not compatible with version 2 will be labeled Does this mean that R will not be updated until MGA4?
Mageia 3 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status 4 months ago. http://blog.mageia.org/en/2014/11/26/lets-say-goodbye-to-mageia-3/ Mageia 3 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates.
