Created attachment 4083 [details] .tgz of /root/drakx/ (This isn't new. It also happened many times in Mandriva.) HTTP installation initialized by loading all.rdz(0) and vmlinuz(0) with Grub on 32 bit Sempron host m7ncd. To reproduce: 1-proceed past partitioning with smallish / (3040MB) for minimalist installation 2-deselect all 3-select custom 4-select detailed package selection 5-select X and documentation (not recommendeds) 6-expand workstation 7-try to unselect preselected groups "Office Workstation" (which only has sharutils preselected), "Multimedia station" (which has only preselected package xli, which to deselect causes task-x11, xdm, xinit, xinitrc, xli all "to be removed" Actual results: 1-installer not enough space to install "this package" 2-acts like I'm trying to select what is already selected 3-basic X packages are classified as "multimedia station" Expected results 1-does not tell me not enough space to install any preselected group 2-does not act like I am trying to select a preselected group 3-allows to deselect non-mandatory unneeded groups 4-Does not preselect groups in which only a few or only one package is preselected It's totally unclear to me why groups that can be expanded to show various packages to select or deselect, and have less than all already selected, have a preselected checkbox. To me a group checkbox selected implies _all_ packages it contains are selected.
From what I understood it's not a bug but rather a design issue. The checkboxes have three states : checked, partly checked, not checked. In your case it's in partly checked state, and clicking it switches to checked state. This issue is made prominent by the fact that "partly checked" and "checked" look the same. I'm pretty sure there's another bug report for that, but I can't find it. Assigning to maintainer who will probably know. The fact you can't unselect because you first have to select all before you can unselect all is another usability issue that might deserve its bug report (this one?) in its own.
