What for media did you used ? 

Could you provide the file /root/drakx/report.bug.gz as an attachment ?
If you don't have the file, you can switch to console 2 (by pressing 'Ctrl-Alt-F2') during installation, put a floppy in floppy drive or plug a USB key/stick and type: 'bug' then press Enter. It will put report.bug on the floppy/key.

This is the DVD Mageia 3 x86_64 and a new installation. A former Mandriva 2009 partition has been formatted at the beginning of the installation.

The problem appears when the partitions are in several disks or in an unique disk there is some supplementary partition, any partiton except / and /home, such /var for example.

CC: (none) => aymeric

The same bug also happens with "Mageia 3 Live DVD GNOME i 586" and others.
I do not know which else I can try.
I get the error message: "Es ist nicht möglich die Dateien in das Root Verzeichnis zu kopieren."

The partitions are:

/dev/sda5  ... /
/dev/sda7  ... /home
/dev/dsa8  ... /var

/dev/sda5 gets formatted before the installation process is started.

I have given up with all Mageia 3 DVDs and CDs.

I did now successfully install Mageia 2 from the GNOME Live x86_64 DVD.
Then I go through the steps for the online installation.


But then it hangs on the last command.

# urpmi --replacefiles --auto-update --auto
