I had the same problem "kwin PID : 1952 Signal : Segmentation fault (11)" after a fresh install of Mageia4 on a new computer : - Mother board : GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-DS2 - Processeur : AMD A8-7600 (the lattest APU Kaveri with integrated graphic and HSA) - Monitor 1440x900 with DVI-D single link First install : KDE crashed with this message " Exécutable : kwin PID : 1952 Signal : Segmentation fault (11) " I couldn't activate the desktop effects and graphic was very slow. I couldn't run catalyst with admin privilege (the link didn't work). I tried many things before I finally loosed the control of x11. Second install : Same crash with same message. I ran catalyst with the command amdcccle (in root) Catalyst Control Center immediatly crash and shut down the session each time I clic on the "detection button" I uninstalled fglrx-kernel-desktop-3.12.25 (and fglrx-kernel-desktop-latest) I installed the previous version fglrx-kernel-desktop-3.12.21 Now it works fine. I hope this post can help despite it's not the same hardware (AMD/ATI vs INTEL/NVIDIA). Do I have to make a separate bug for the bad link to Catalyst-admin ?

And not the same version (Mageia 4-64 install vs Mageia 3-32 live).
