Add partclone (partition imaging program) to Mageia proper. Partclone is robust, allows you to image back to files, and had built in checksumming for backup verification. Also has a "dd" mode for raw or unsupported filessytems, like NextSTEP. (still extensively used in Lam Research tools) Still under active development unlike partimage, should have replaced it by default years ago. Mandriva et al have had it for ages, and is available on the Mageia BDK repo for MGA2. I use it regularly in a professional setting. (Equipment backups in semiconductor industry)
I see an available rpm here (64bit version): http://ftp.blogdrake.net/mageia/mageia3/free/x86_64/partclone-0.2.38-1bdk.mga3.x86_64.rpm until it will be available in the official repos
