Install log of failed installation

First hit this problem with the 24 April RC DVD upgrading a KDE Mageia2 to 3.

Re-tried the Mag2/KDE upgrade. After about 1hr or more, it stopped "Installation failed, some files are missing
          /tmp/image/media/core/.................mga3.i586.rpm for 8 pkgs
You may need to update your urpmi database. Try to continue anyway?"
Answered YES/OK, & the same scenario repeated at least 20 times for different numbers of pkgs before I gave up. The DVD drive did not seem to be accessed during all that. After a few screens about abandoning the 'install', a msg box including "media.cfg not found" and an OK button.

Now while trying to install the 'final' Mageia3 from the full Install 32-bit DVD: this [Welsh] installation in which I chose all 3 desktops foundered during the actual long 'install' phase:

Installation failed, some files are missing
/tmp/image/media/core/.........
[*n]
Cancel
An error happened:
unable to install package /tmp/image/media/core/.........
[*n]
OK -> ERROR, Failed to process install 1, Failed to install packages
OK -> ERROR: Error ocurred, Installation failed
OK -> ERROR: Error occured, media.cfg not found
OK goes back to disc partitioning.

I attach /root/drakx/install.log
There is also a 2Mb ddebug.log - what should I do with that?
There is no report.bug.xz

it should be the upgrade.log
or any file which contain mga3 suffix packages.

Manuel
I have re-installed a slightly more recent i586 3-desktop Mageia3 from the Installation DVD of 15th May. I got through without problems. I will try upgrading a KDE Mag2 with the same DVD later to see what happens. If *that* does not show the problem, we can close this as spurious.

Version: Cauldron => 3

Comment 3 Lewis Smith 2013-05-27 20:18:03 CEST
I was informed recently that .../media/core/ exists *only* on the install DVD, so any problem finding it suggests a faulty install medium (or device). All the errors reported here were from the same Mageia 'variant', meaning (for me) the same DVD. This same physical DVD has just manifestly died, and I have got through a full official Mag3 32-bit install OK with a new DVD.
Hence bug closed 'deffective install medium'.
One less for you.
