Hello Mageia! it would be great if Gyachi (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gyachi/ , latest is 1.2.7, 1.2.4 is in mandriva) could be included in Mageia, it's a bit an unpolished piece of software, but the only one that supports photo sharing and co for yahoo.
I support this request. Gyachi Improved works with the webcam if you got a Yahoo account to. Pidgin and the other not works with the webcam.

I too support this request... Gyachi supports text, voice, & video - no other Linux client has this capacity. It is the only truly viable Linux alternative to Yahoo Messenger. ( Just be aware that Yahooligan has been up to its usual antics very recently, so if unable to login do not despair - there are easy workarounds.) ;-) ( I mention this perchance anyone tries Gyachi presently & finds any login problems.) Most other clients ( MS still exists ) have encountered the same recently.)

Created attachment 631 [details] SPEC file from gyachi 1.2.4 removed references to XMMS from the changelog it seems funda and ahmad know much more about this package than me ;-)
Created attachment 632 [details] Patches from mdv2010 src rpm for gyachi maybe they are needed?
I tried building an RPM from gyachi 1.2.7 but somehow my build environment is a bit messed up from too many experiments... will try again tomorrow on a different mga install if someone else feels like trying to build the rpm that would be great

Would all interested parties be happy without the xmms plugin? I currently have a working package of the latest version ready for submit, but without xmms. (xmms involves many more currently un-packaged dependencies) Never having used it, I have no idea what user impact this would have. Comments please ;)

probably that means no sound... for me thats no problem, I'm after the webcam (very nice for slow connections) and photo sharing that's basically all im still using it for. what about others? for voice and video i switched to gmail with the google plugin, whish there was a good, free alternative...
just had another idea... maybe it is also just to display the title played as a status.... but thats enough speculations for today, didnt get much time to try out things online nowadays ;-) in any case: thanks barry for your efforts
(In reply to comment #9) You will soon be able to test it in Cauldron. It should appear in a few hours if all goes to plan. I would advise against attempting to install this in mga1, use a fully updated Cauldron installation for testing. The alsa plugin is installed by default and the others are in separate rpms. Here is the full list:- gyachi-1.2.11-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm gyachi-plugin-gtkspell-1.2.11-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm gyachi-debug-1.2.11-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm gyachi-plugin-mcrypt-1.2.11-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm gyachi-plugin-blowfish-1.2.11-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm gyachi-plugin-photosharing-1.2.11-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm gyachi-plugin-gpgme-1.2.11-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm gyachi-plugin-pulseaudio-1.2.11-1.mga2.x86_64.rpm
(in reply to comment #10) Hi Barry, didn't think to ask before if you will also be doing a 32 bit version.?

(in reply to comment #8) Hi diego, "probably that means no sound... " As long as an ALSA plugin is made available, there should be no problem. Pulseaudio has proven to be a PITA in many situations. If in any doubt read the Twinkle forums as one small example, where one guy gives a string of reasons & technical explanations why NOT to use it. One major Linux OS has done likewise after too many headaches with it. Change is often for the good but sometimes fixing what basically ain't broke can bring a range of new hassles. Think I might sell the car soon & go buy a good old horse & cart. ( People didn't even need things like Gyachi to talk to one another back then - eh? ) ;-) ;-) ;-)
@ Barry Assigning to you since you're working on it. Please assign back if I'm wrong to do so, or set status to ASSIGNED if you agree :)
