Description of problem: This is a very strange problem and very hard to describe. Every second time or so I am booting my system up, there are three strange little noises somewhere near my power button. It is one lower and there are two higher noises (or vice versa). After these, there is a snap of my hardware, I do not know what it is. As I am loving my laptop and do not want to harm it I need to know what is the problem here. This may sound funny, but I do not think it is. Did not happen in Mageia 2. As I am using Cauldron RC since one week now and always keep my system up to date, I can confirm that it happens since I installed 3 RC and it does not seem to make a difference with these updates. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: see below Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Mageia 3 RC 2. check the bootup process for sounds 3. check KDE login and shortly after login for sounds 4. hear if something is happening 5. reboot several times to reproduce this issue. You will realize that it does not always happen Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
I have to correct this: It is ONE high beep, pretty long, and ONE low beep, then followed by this "crack"/"snap", whatever. I checked my hard drive and the battery, both seem okay. I am using "Phoenix" BIOS, maybe it will help. Regards
Summary: Three strange little noises and a hardware snap when entering KDE desktop => Two strange little noises and a hardware snap when entering KDE desktop
After nearly exactly one week working with the final release of Mageia 3 I can't reproduce this phenomenon anymore. I hope that it is finally gone forever. Would be interesting to know what it was, though. Please close this thread in one or two weeks. I will report back if it happens again. Otherwise I don't know what to write about this strange "bug" in the future. Thanks.
closiing then
