This error message sequence cycled through three times (Press return to continue:) and then STEAM ran OK, so I'm not certain this is a bug or not.
Comment 2 David Walser 2013-05-10 20:39:37 CEST
Our steam package does not require jockey-common. It only requires zenity and libmesagl1. Install it from the nonfree repository.

This is not exactly invalid. Steam checks for the presence of dpkg and if it finds it it thinks that it is on ubuntu and checks for dependencies required on ubuntu.

To avoid this checking you should add a conflict on dpkg in steam package or just add some notice about it in errata/release notes.

Another possible solution is to remove /usr/bin/steamdeps script (see https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/2666 ) or edit it "to do the right things" as suggested by the comment in the script.

thank you...

you can install these rpm yourself, and for sudo, you need to configure it.

(In reply to Manuel Hiebel from comment #7)
> you can install these rpm yourself, and for sudo, you need to configure it.

Installing packages manually won't fix the problem. Steam checks packages using dpkg and can not find rpm packages installed.

I have already wrote several times that the proper fix is to change /usr/bin/steamdeps properly for mageia, but there's seems no steam package maintainer in mageia and nobody is willing to do it...

If i open a bug it is not for resolve by me (there is forum for that).
I want fix it for all Mageia...

We do organisation for gaming : http://wwww.linuxgamesparty.fr
I can't say at everybody, it is your problem...

If mageia do RPM, mageia must fix it or remove the rpm

thank you
