since 3.x kernels the "desktop" flavour uses much more power on laptops than the "netbook" version. On my lenovo (intel cpu) the difference is ~8W on netbook vs. 19W on desktop kernels.
I've compared this also on a HP notebook (amd cpu) the difference is ~13W vs. ~20W.

In mageia2 I just installed the netbook kernel - but this flavour is missing in mageia3.

I'm not sure what causes this difference, since the configuration of both versions differ only in a few places.

Mageia 3 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status 4 months ago.
