Description of problem:
If you install steam without fonts-ttf-libertine steam will become unreadable.
Looks like this screenshot: (I found it somewhere on the Web, so it's not taken by myself.)

Could not reproduce on mga3 stable i586.

Steam displays fine without fonts-ttf-libertine for me. I also don't have texlive-texmf which provides libertine, so it makes that Steam works fine with no libertine font on my system.

Could you uninstall fonts-ttf-libertine and start Steam in a terminal, to see if it displays useful information?

1) fresh install on mga5b2 works

2) mga3 is EOL

--> closing as old
