Sorry, the command affected is fetchnews. "leafnode" starts the daemon, and has no lockfile.

mageia From the Mageia 2 package: drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Mar 16 2011 ./var/lock/news So this is nothing new, but it should indeed be owned by news.news (the fedora package uses a different path for the lock file). Anyway, fixed in svn. Status:
