Description Marcus Zurhorst 2013-04-14 10:58:41 CEST
Description of problem:
When I try to burn an Audio CD from MP3 files, brasero is complaining that the file is "not suitabe for audio or video media".

I asked Google and found a few links where others have the same issue.
A common hint is, that the Fluendo plugin is not compatible with brasero and shall be replaced by gstreamer-plugins-ugly.

On my computer, I do not find a package named fluendo, and gstreamer-plugins-ugly is installed as well.

Looking further, I found:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=156523

In this ArchLinux forum, there is a code change mentioned, plus a link to a proposed patch which seems to fix the issue. Also, I understand from there that brasero was fixed upstream.

Hello,

Please test brasero-3.6.1-3.1.mga3 from "core/updates_testing".

Advisory:
Fix "not suitable for audio or video media" error when attempting to create a mp3 audio project. The plugin was basically renamed for gstreamer 1.0.

SRPM package:

How to test:
Before:
- Install Mageia 3 with GNOME/brasero
- Open brasero
- Start a new audio project
- Add a mp3 file
After:
- Install "brasero-3.6.1-3.1.mga3" from "core/updates_testing"
- Open brasero
- Start a new audio project
- Add a mp3 file

Thanks for the test. Are you sure of your 32-bit test? I can't understand why it could not work as the patch is the same for both packages.
I will investigate if you are not the only one to reproduce.
Comment 5 claire robinson 2013-06-04 10:33:34 CEST
Confirmed here Damien. Does it not fail for you too?

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=687886

Tried also with gstreamer1.0-plugins-{good,bad,ugly} installed as none were required/suggested but still the same error on adding an mp3.

It may be an issue with gstreamer1.0-plugins-good missing mpegaudioparse which seems to replace mp3parse in gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly

Please could you also list rpm's with the srpm.
Comment 8 Marcus Zurhorst 2013-06-04 20:22:38 CEST
I tested as well, and I come one steps closer now.
When I add the mp3 files, I do not get the error message anymore.
Instead, the job start with "normalizing titles" and does not make any progress anymore. (after 15+ minutes, I cancelled the action).

What I am wondering:
-- I did not only install the brasero.rpm from the testing repository, but also 3 libbrasero-.... libraries, which where obviously not dependent on this brasero.rpm.
-- while this was not requested by Damien originally, this seem natural to me to update everything related to Brasero.
Comment 9 Marcus Zurhorst 2013-06-05 11:11:24 CEST
Burning an audio CD from MP3s is working now.
I deactivated the "normalize" plugin in the settings to work around the hang in the normalization process. Afterwards, Brasero worked flawlessly.

I guess we need another bug for this, or shall this be handeled inside this one?
Comment 10 claire robinson 2013-06-05 11:38:44 CEST
Sounds like symptoms of the same issue Marcus. Were your tests i586 or x86_64 ?

The lib's should be updated as well as brasero itself so you were Ok there.
If x86_64 the lib's should be named lib64brasero*
Comment 11 Marcus Zurhorst 2013-06-05 19:05:27 CEST
I am still on 32bit here.
Comment 12 Damien Lallement 2013-06-06 11:12:09 CEST
Thank you all for your tests.
WIP.

Let me confirm that there is an issue with the normalization process. I could not burn no audio CD with this option activated.
Here are installed packages :
-lib64brasero-media3_1-3.6.1-3.mga3
-brasero-3.6.1-3.mga3
-lib64brasero-utils3_1-3.6.1-3.mga3
-lib64brasero-burn3_1-3.6.1-3.mga3
