Description Paul Blackburn 2011-04-24 18:08:28 CEST
Description of problem:

Mageia Beta1 installer fail at boot loader stage: 64-bit from DVD

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Happens every time for me

Steps to Reproduce:
1. attempt to install Mageia Beta1 from DVD in 64 bit machine
2.
3.

hardware: HP ProBook 6555b AMD Phenom II N620 Dual-Core processor 64-bit

downloaded and checked the MD5 checksum OK. Burned install DVD.

I have removed the internal disk drive and connected a disk in an external USB enclosure. The install seems to work fine up to the boot loader stage.
(My aim is to make a bootable external USB disk for running Mageia.)

Tried to install to same hardware using the dual-arch install CDrom.
A similar error message appeared. Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/EQqPx.jpg

Also attempted install to same hardware using Mandriva 2010.1 Spring DVD.
Similar outcome. Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/VX6GV.jpg

Disk partitioning:
/boot 256mb # not encrypted
/mnt/hd 5gb # not encrypted: for a copy of the install DVD .iso file
/ 10gb # encrypted
swap 8gb # encrypted
/usr/local 2gb # encrypted
/home 200gb # encrypted

sorry I take it back. It works for me now, used a different burner for the iso.
